“A very big thank you to you and your team (especially the chef, who cooked us a delicious meal) for the lovely time you gave my colleagues and myself last night. The bar, the dining room and our table were all beautifully decorated, and you looked after us very attentively. I enjoyed all the food, but my special favourite was the black pudding and crispy bacon! We were very fortunate to have the upstairs room to ourselves, which added to the sense of occasion.”

“Just wanted to thank you for Friday night, we all had an amazing, fun time - the food was really good and the atmosphere spot on! We will definitely recommend the place to our colleagues and keep it in mind for future events.”

“The evening was a huge success and even though we were changing numbers right up to the last hour, we were well accommodated. The table looked fantastic (as you had promised) and the service was just right. Good food and good company meant that I received lots of praise for the arrangements and for the venue selection. The only person I did not get to thank was the chef and I trust that you will pass on our praise for his mastery, the starter was an especial delight.”

“I would like to thank you for your hard work and helpful service for Daniela and Chris’ wedding reception. It was a lovely evening, the food was especially yummy and plentiful, and your friendliness was much appreciated.”

“The service and ambience is far from the puritanism suggested by the pub’s name. Indeed, the night of our visit, a frisky foursome of French bankers even danced suggestively on their table. Outre, certainly, but not temperate.”

“The Temperance exudes a welcoming calm from its large, dark wood interior. Wine is the top drink, with a range that includes a humble Portuguese Santo Isidro de Pegoes and a Red Dot shiraz viognier but there is also Greene Kings IPA, Adnams, Leffe and San Miguel on tap. Standard tapas [3 for £10] are available, but most people come for the five strong starter and ten strong main courses.”

“Was in the area and this place seemed busy so I popped in a for a pint with a mate. We stayed all afternoon! Great menu, happy staff (a rarity sometimes in pubs) and a real good buzz. It was like a pub should be, lively, good beer (always important to me!!), and even the music was good in a retro ''borrowed from your own record collection'' kind of way (no muzak schmultz here!). I will be back and even though I was out of my usual drinking area, I would and will make a trip back. (The roast beef was a killer portion and very well cooked too). Cheers!”

“I went there for lunch a couple of Sundays ago... the Roast Beef was pink and very tasty.. the half a Chicken was huge and all the vegetables crisp and fresh.. I think well worth a visit and on Sundays the kitchen stays open well past 3.00pm.”

“I went for food & drinks after work with a couple of friends and had a really enjoyable experience... I too ordered the Fish and might I say it was not only delicious but huge. My friends opted for the Bar Tapas which had a vast menu to choose from. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful at helping my friends choose which tapas dishes to go for, all in all I really liked this place, great decor, good pub grub, friendly staff needless to say I will definitely be returning.”
